Every year around this time, I hear the same line from professionals in their 40s and 50s:
"Next year, I'm finally going to do something for myself."
I believe them when they say it. They mean it.
Then January shows up. New targets land. The calendar fills.
By February, the idea is back on the shelf.
If that sounds familiar, this edition is for you. Just to show you why the idea keeps slipping, and what it actually takes to make 2027 different.
It's not a lack of drive.
The people I talk to have spent 10, 20, even 30 years leading teams, hitting numbers, and solving problems most people never see.
Here's what I think really holds people back.
In our heads, "betting on yourself" looks like a solo act.
Quit the job. Build everything from scratch. Figure out the product, the systems, the hiring, and the customers on your own.
Then hope it all works before the savings run out.
That's a lot to carry alone. So the sensible part of your brain says, "Not this year. Maybe when things calm down."
Things rarely calm down.
That's exactly why I believe in franchising for so many corporate professionals.
With a franchise, you're still betting on yourself. You still make the decisions. You still build the equity.
The difference is what you start with:
→ A business model that's already been tested.
→ Training from people who've done it before.
→ A brand customers already recognize.
→ A marketing playbook you don't have to invent on your own dime.
→ A network of owners to call when you hit a wall.
It's the line I use with almost every candidate I work with:
You're in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
And you don’t need to be sure today. The first step is just a conversation to see what’s out there and whether any of it fits your life, your finances, and your goals.
The year is almost over. The professionals who start 2027 with a plan are usually the ones who got curious before January.
If you’ve been thinking about business ownership, let’s talk it through. No cost, no pressure.
Here's what a first conversation with me looks like. It's a 15-minute, no-obligation chat where I learn about your goals, your lifestyle, and your finances.
From there, I narrow 800+ franchise systems down to a shortlist that genuinely fits you.
And it costs you nothing. My fees are paid by the franchise partners, never by you, so my only incentive is finding the right match.
